Our Story

How it all started

Patterson Park Church was born in 1949, a time of rapid growth for fundamental churches in the United States.   In the northern Dayton area,  thirty-nine members from the North Riverdale Grace Brethren church decided to begin a new Brethren church on the southern end of the city.  They named their new church Patterson Park Brethren Church.  The first service was held in a member's home in 1950.  The congregation later met at Belmont Elementary School before moving into a new building on the corner of Patterson Road and Shadowlawn Avenue.

Growing & changing

In 1963, the growing body of church members launched Patterson Park Christian School (later to become Dayton Christian Schools, Inc.) with 17 kindergarten students.  In 1978, the congregation voted to separate from the Grace Brethren denomination and become an independent Bible church (more commonly referred to today as a non-denominational church).

Serving Beavercreek

In 1989, the congregation voted to purchase 13 acres of land at 3655 East Patterson Road in Beavercreek.  The land was purchased debt free in 1990, and construction of the new campus began in 1991.  The first service in the new church was held on September 20, 1992 with nearly 1,000 people attending.

Expanding

In 2010, groundbreaking for Phase 2 of our facility took place, with a three-story addition including The Underground, the Worship Center, a new, larger kitchen, more classroom space, and our Central Park welcome center.

Where we are now

God has richly blessed us with a growing church family. Ministries such as our youth group, special needs classes, college Sunday school, children's programs and more have expanded. We are committed to finding new ways to connect with our church family, and facilitating opportunities for our church family to serve our community and beyond. With a focus on reaching our neighbors in Beavercreek, supporting local ministries,  serving across the globe in person and in partnership with missionaries, we welcome you to join our efforts.
