Have you ever wondered how the 66 books that are part of our Protestant Bible came to be collected into one book we call “The Bible”? Why do Roman Catholic and Orthodox Bibles have more books than in our edition? Does the order of the books help us to understand the message of God’s Word? The main question this class will discuss is: does the way the Bible came to exist teach us how we should read and understand it? The answer is “Yes!”; the formation of the Bible helps us to know the storyline of the Bible. This two-part series begins by explaining how the Bible we use came to exist. The second part demonstrates how part one enables us to understand the storyline of God’s Word to us. This is not an apologetics course. It is an opportunity to engage an infrequently discussed topic and to learn how to be a skilled reader of God’s Word so that we may deepen our relationship with Jesus the Christ.
